Golden Snake Hunt of 2025

Clue #1

Last years hunt with the Golden Dragon was SO much fun – we both LOVED all the fantastic stories of you guys looking for the elusive dragon – some included maps, bringing in experts to help and even mad searches online. Our hearts have laughed over those stories many times this past year and rejoiced with the winner/finder who even gave the golden dragon his own seat with a seatbelt for protection LOL. And with that much joy, how could Charles not want to continue the tradition this year!
In order for everyone to fully enjoy all that Monkeyshines and Lunar New Year offers, Charles always waits until the quieter time between all those festivities and DBT mania before interjecting a bit of fun. This is Clue #1 of 4, keep an eye out on social media in the coming days for the other 3 Clues!!

Clue #2

Mystery calls for a sharper mind,
For those who seek, for those who find.

Shadows dance, the echoes play,
The obvious may lead astray.

Follow signs & the road once broken.

The clouds, they whistle, soft and low,
A voice that sings of what we know.
Do they call or do they mourn,
Or do they shape what’s yet unborn?

Towers rise where none have been,
Born of whispers on the wind.
Sealed in ink, the marks remained—

A shake, a sway, a voice set free,
Echoes rolling endlessly.
Where footsteps danced and fever grew,
The song remains, the crowds they drew.

Above the road, the cosmos sways,
Planets drift in silent praise.

Feathers fly and footsteps chase,
A frantic dash, a fleeting race.
Round they run, yet none can see,
Who wins, who waits, or where they’ll be.

Words like sand emerge from frank

Copper glimmers, then is gone,
A story told, a ledger drawn.
Missing monies, lost to time,
A debt to pay, a fate entwined.

A pattern forms, then slips away,
A secret held in quiet sway.

Launching in 2003, Monkeyshines has grown into a beloved Tacoma tradition, filling the Lunar New Year with wonder and excitement. Inspired by a desire to spread joy, the mysterious “Ms. Monkey” began hiding hand-blown glass orbs around the city, inviting residents to embark on a magical treasure hunt. Neighbors and artists soon joined in, adding their own creations to the search and turning it into a true community celebration. Children and adults alike eagerly explore parks and hidden corners, hoping to stumble upon one of these beautiful, one-of-a-kind keepsakes. Over the years, the hunt has become more than just a game—it’s a reminder of the creativity and generosity that make Tacoma special. Longtime participants share stories of their favorite finds, passing down the tradition to new generations. Newcomers quickly discover the thrill of the search, proving that the magic of Monkeyshines is meant for everyone. Paths wind through the city’s heart, leading seekers to unexpected wonders. Anticipation grows with each clue uncovered, each glimmer of glass reflecting the joy of discovery. Rooted in mystery, yet bound by community, the hunt reminds all who join that surprises await those who look closely.
