Before anything else, we need to say this:
Manic Mermaid exists because of you.
10 years ago God put the idea of The Mermaid into my life… it’s been ten years of magic, laughter, treasure hunting, friendships, live shows, and community (such incredible community!)… every single bit of it has been because you showed up, supported us, trusted us, and made this place what it is.
There is no version of this story without you in it.
So when it came time to choose our next home, every decision we made came back to one thing:
What would delight you?
This next chapter was chosen with your experience at the center of everything.
• Someplace with really great parking (like… actually really great)
• Where your phone can actually connect to the internet
• A safe, easy place to come and stay awhile
• A bigger space so we can bring in even more treasures and create new experiences for you that we’ve been dreaming about
Because you were first and foremost in our decision making…Manic Mermaid is officially moving to South Tacoma Way!! 5436 S. Tacoma Way to be precise!
And the parking…swoon! We have to say it again because it’s that good. THE PARKING!!
A gigantic lot with 50+ spaces. All free. All for the Heritage Bank group of businesses… which we are now officially a part of.
This means you can come, take your time, bring a friend, and not think twice about where to park or how long you’ll stay. (We’ve wanted this for you for a long time.)
And then there’s the neighborhood…
South Tacoma Way is full of character, creativity, and hidden gems. Our immediate neighbors include Crafty AF, Studio 56 Collective (hello mid-century furniture dreams), Moxcey’s Vocal Training & Piano Studio, and Rapture Massage & Bodyworks… and that’s just steps away from us. There is also Howdy Bagel, Bluebeard Coffee, Sober AF, Arcades, restaurants, hair salon & barbers, tattoos, place to buy spiders (seriously!) and more!!!
There is so much to explore, experience, eat, and enjoy all in one place… and we cannot wait for you to make a whole outing out of it.
Inside the shop, the extra space means we finally get to bring some ideas to life that we’ve been holding onto… new experiences, new displays, and more room to breathe, wander, and discover.
Timeline wise:
We are still open every day 11–6 at Point Ruston through mid-ish June
We’ll take a short pause to move and get everything just right
And we’re planning to reopen at our South Tacoma Way location around the second week of July
And truly… none of this happens without you.
You’ve joined us through ten years. You’ve cheered us on, shown up again and again, brought your friends, your families, your stories, your energy… and turned a small idea into something so much bigger than we ever could have imagined.
This next chapter is all about you.
We cannot wait to welcome you into this new space, to see you walk through the doors, to watch you explore, linger, and make new memories with us all over again.
